This Masters is, first and foremost, a program that prepares students for excellence in the workplace. It provides students with the opportunity to work independently and pick up a wide range of skills required to become a successful commercial lawyer.
First, in addition to the technical skills which we have been taught from our first year at university in cours magistraux - which I personally started to find slightly repetitive - the program Master II JAI focuses on developing our commercial awareness. Whilst most Law students have difficulty understanding business, I believe the program is well suited to students who aspire to have a strong knowledge of the business sector. From managing budgets and organising fundraising events and parties(!), to taking part in role plays and client meetings, the program allows students to naturally develop an understanding of the commercial world.
Throughout the year we were also invited to produce a number of group presentations, which taught us to work effectively as a team in order to confidently deliver technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Following the Masters program, I worked as a Corporate Finance and M&A intern at Gowling WLG in London as part of my end-of-year internship. During this time, I was able to put everything I had learnt in the program into practice, which helped me deliver a high quality of work.
Please feel free to get in touch with the Masters' students for my contact details if you need any further information.
